Description
Discover what life in Old Dubai was like, during the mid-19th century at Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Located along the Dubai Creek, this district is a key heritage site with much of the original infrastructure preserved and intact. The traditional wind towers – constructed from stone, teak, gypsum, palm wood and sandalwood – represent only a small part of Al Fahidi’s history. Each alley, twisting pathway and breezy tower tells a story of a life before the seven emirates.
I love that shot. It really brings the essence of this heritage area to life. The image is part of a huge documentary of historic sites in Dubai and I photographed it just before sunrise in May 2019. The unique blend of the cool blue, the reflection of the passing night sky and the warmth from the alley and wind tower lighting invites the viewer to enter and find out more.
