The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one the world’s largest mosques and a massive architectural work of art that intentionally blends different Islamic architectural schools. It features 82 domes, more than 1,000 columns, 24-carat-gold gilded chandeliers and the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet. The main prayer hall is dominated by one of the world’s largest chandeliers. The glass domes are part of the new visitor centre’s for the mosque which will not only help manage the smooth flow of visitors through the southern side of the mosque, but it will also provide a commercial and educational space for visitors.
I witnessed the late construction period of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and it is and remains an absolute master piece of architecture. There are endless places waiting to be captured and throughout the years I visited SZGM many times. This dome is part of the new visitor arrival center. Mar 2019.
