Navigate the future of trade and Logistics
introduction
Since its establishment in 2006, Abu Dhabi Ports has been completely aligned with the economic plans and directives of Abu Dhabi Government’s 2030 Economic Vision, by playing a pivotal role in the growth of the emirate, contributing 3.6% of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil GDP growth.
Many major milestones have been achieved throughout our journey to become an integral hub for global trade and logistics with innovation at the heart of everything we do. We manage and operate 11 ports and terminals as well as the largest economic zones in the region and support over 149,000 jobs across the UAE. Our rapid expansion to grow our international presence is thanks to our strategic position at the crossroads of trade routes, connecting lives across the region and the world.
Khalifa Port is the Abu Dhabi Ports’ flagship, deepwater port built to accommodate the largest ships existing when it was built. It is a state-of-the art gateway to Abu Dhabi and handles all of the emirate’s container traffic. The transfer of container traffic from Zayed Port was completed in December 2012.
Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal is a milestone in Arabian cruise tourism, designed to welcome the surge of passengers visiting the emirate. Located in Zayed Port, the terminal first opened its gates in 2015 and has since posed a welcoming gateway to tourists from around the world, fully equipped to host all kinds of vessels for turnaround and home-porting.

Challenges
Working inside critical infrastructure environments is always a bit tricky due to the nature of the required security clearances prior to entering for example a port as well the process getting in and moving around these premises with certain safety aspects and different command chains in place. Some of these sites are humongous and if permitted I will surely bring my electrical scooter that proofed extremely useful and also changed my approach and shooting style in capturing large vessel arrivals and similar situations when time and flexibility moving quickly is of essence.
